When we talk about school technology, it’s tempting to start with platforms, features, and integrations. In reality, the most important starting point is people.
Every system eventually lands with a user — a teacher, an administrator, a pupil, or a parent. If that system doesn’t respect their time, attention, and context, it quickly becomes a source of friction rather than support.
In my role, I spend a lot of time looking at how systems connect behind the scenes. But just as important is how they feel on the frontline. Good technology should reduce cognitive load, not increase it. It should remove steps, not add them.
This is especially true in schools, where capacity is limited and expectations are high. A technically impressive solution that creates uncertainty or additional admin ultimately fails its purpose.
That’s why we design systems to be calm, predictable, and intuitive. Complexity belongs in the backend — not with the people using the system day to day.
